MRYB All Star’s Outline for the 2025 season

1. Madison Ridgeland Youth Baseball (referred to as MRYB) Board will support All Stars as listed below:
A. The primary focus of the MRYB Board is to focus on the spring baseball season including registration, player evaluations, practices, games, rules, and ending with the regular season tournament. The goal is to ensure that all players, parents, coaches are actively involved in our spring baseball league. The MRYB Board supports All Stars teams from our existing player registration but reserves the right to cancel All Stars at any point during the regular season as All Stars is not the primary focus.
B. Provide insurance to all approved All Star teams.
C. Approve uniform packages & pricing for all All Star teams.
D. Provide All-Star metals to players who will be participating in All Stars.
E. Appoint an All Star Commissioner each spring season to assist the current League Administrator with the All Star process.
F. Provide one new box of baseballs to each All Star team.
G. MRYB Board will pay a onetime tournament registration fee, per team for the REC All Star State Championship tournament.
H. Provide fields for All Star practice through City of Madison and City of Ridgeland Parks departments.
2. MRYB Board will select an All Star Commissioner each spring season. The responsibility of the All Star Commissioner is listed below:
A. Work closely with the current MRYB League Administrator on day-to-day questions for All Stars.
B. Work with REC All Star Tournament directors in assisting MRYB coaches and parents with important tournament information.
C. Assist All Star coaches in registering for tournaments.
D. Assist with the All Star metal ceremony for players and coaches.
E. All Star Commissioner must be a current MRYB Board member and this position is a non-paid position.
F. All Star Commissioner will report directly to MRYB Board.
G. All Star Commissioner will attend and provide an All Star summary information for coaches for the upcoming season.
3. When the regular season championship games are completed in all age groups, All Star teams from each age groups will have a separate awards night at Liberty Park / Hite Wolcott and be presented with All Star metals. All Star metals will NOT be given out at Championship games.
4. All Star Commissioner will work with J.S. Iupes on uniform packages and pricing for all All Star teams for the upcoming All Star season. All Star Commissioner will submit proposed uniform package to MRYB Board each year for approval. All age groups for MRYB All Stars both players & coaches will wear the same uniform package. There will be no deviation from the approved All Star uniform package allowed.
5. All Star teams for all age groups are REQUIRED to participate in the following tournaments:
1. One Jackson Metro Area REC All Star Invitational
AND
2. REC All Star State Championship Tournament
6. MRYB defines the All Star Season for teams as outlined below:
A. All Star practice in any form shall NOT begin until the respected League Championship game is completed in their league. All Star teams are allowed to have a parent meeting to discuss schedules, fees, sponsors, and etc. before their initial practice.
B. All Star Teams will close practice and tournament participation after the 2nd weekend in July of the respected season.
7. MRYB will support the below All Star teams as follows:
a. If the regular season has 8 or more combined teams in their respected grade for the season (four American League teams and 4 National League teams), the MRYB Board will support 2 All Star teams per grade as outlined below:
· 6U / Kindergarten = National League & American League - 2 All Star teams
· 7U / 1st Grade = National League & American League - 2 All Star teams
· 8U / 2nd Grade = National League & American League - 2 All Star teams
· 9U / 3rd Grade = American League & National League - 2 All Star team
· 10U / 4th Grade = American League & National League - 2 All Star team
· MRYB will NOT support a 11U All Star team.
· 12U / 5th & 6th Grade = American League & National League - 2 AllStar team
o Note: The MRYB 12U All Star Team will be comprised of both 5th and 6th grader players and NOT limited to just 6th grade players.
b. If the total number of teams in the respected grade for both American and National Leagues for the regular season has 7 and under teams, MRYB Board will only support one All Star team comprised of both American and National Leagues players.
8. Coaches Selections:
A. Each All Star team will be comprised of 3 coaches - head coach and (2) assistants coaches. The 3 coaches participating in All Stars must be active coaches in the league during the respected regular season. The All Star head coach will be chosen based on their teams ranking during the regular season in their respected age group and league at a set time. The respected head coach of the team with the best record in their league will be offered the position of the All Star head coach for that league. The respected head coach of the team with the 2nd highest ranking at the same set time in the same league will be offered an assistant coach position for All Stars. The 2nd assistant coach position for each All-Star team will be an “at-large” current coach from the respected league chosen by the All Star head coach. If a head coach or assistant coach chooses not to coach All Stars, the respected head coach of the team with the next best ranking will given the choice to be the All Star head coach and/or assistant coach.
1. Based on Section 7.B - if a grade has only one All Star team combined with both National & American League players, the coaches will be chosen as follows: The team with the best record in both leagues at the set time, that team’s respected head coach will be offered the position of the All Star head coach for that All Star Age Division. The team with the 2nd highest ranking at the same set time in both combined leagues, that team’s head coach will be offered an assistant coach position for All Stars in that respected league. The 2nd and final assistant coach position for each All Star team be an “at-large” coach from both combined leagues chosen by the All Star head coach. If a head coach or assistant coach chooses not to coach All Stars, the next team based on standing in both leagues will be given the choice to be the All Star head coach.
B. Tie breakers will be based off number of runs allowed by the respected team/head coach during the regular season and any tie breaker will be based off head-to-head games played between respected team / coaches.
C. If a head or assistant coach is unable to attend an All-Star tournament, the All Star Commissioner will need to approve the replacement for any “on the field” coach during a tournament. Parents who assist teams in the dugout will NOT need to be approved by MRYB All Star Commissioner.
9. All Star Player Selection
A. All Star rosters are set at 12 players and with 3 coaches per team (3 coaches kids) - each team will pick the 9 best players in each league.
B. Current coaches from each team in the Kindergarten through 5th & 6th grade leagues are required to nominate/recommend player(s) for All Star teams.
C. Coaches are NOT to notify parents of All Star recommendations on their current team until after the League Championships games are completed.
D. Nominations of players are NOT a guarantee that a player will make the respected All Star team.
E. One player from each team in the respected league must be offered/invited a roster spot by the All Star head coach.
F. The twelve player All Star roster will be submitted to the All Star Commissioner for review BEFORE parents or players are notified by the All Star head coach.
10. All Star Coaches responsibility:
A. All Star coaches set team fees for participating in All Stars with oversight from MRYB All Star Commissioner. Sponsorship/fundraising is supported and encouraged by MRYB Board for All Star teams to help cover cost of All Stars. No sponsorship information will be allowed to be added to the team jersey (section 4).
B. Please reference Section 6.A and 6.B for outline for the MRYB All Star Season.
C. All Star coaches will register their respected team for REC All Star tournaments.
D. Coaches will communicate with MRYB All Star Commissioner and MRYB League Administrator once All Star teams are formed and throughout the All Star season.
E. Sportsmanship and conduct by all coaches participating in All Star tournaments will be held to the same standard as games and practices held during the regular season MRYB games.
F. All Star Coaches who are ejected or removed by tournament officials during an All Star tournament will not be allowed to participate in All Star practices AND tournaments for the remainder of the All Star season.
11. All Star Parent’s responsibility
A. All Star parents are responsible for paying All Star fees to the team before the team’s first tournament. If fees are not paid by the parent(s) before the first tournament, said player will NOT be allowed to participate in tournaments until fees are paid.
B. Sportsmanship and conduct by parents and family members of players at All Star tournaments will be held to the same standard as games held during the regular season MRYB games.
12. MRYB All Star League Specific Rules:
A. Each All Star team will have a maximum/minimum number of 12 players per team.
B. All players on a roster shall be included in the batting line up.
C. Players participating in All Stars MUST have been registered & participated in the MRYB regular season.
D. All Star teams are NOT allowed to have a guest or sub player for tournaments.
E. All Star teams are NOT allowed to combine to form one All Star team to play tournaments. Example – the MRYB National 10U team and MRYB American 10U team cannot combine forming one 10U All Star team to participate in a 10U REC All Star tournament.
F. MRYB regular season substitutions and bench sitting rules do not apply to All Stars.
13. MRYB Board structures our regular season by school grade and not by the player’s age. This will NOT change because of All Stars.
